I've almost always lived in Ohio for every part of my life. I've lived in the lower income trailer park areas, I've lived in the crowded cities, I've lived near the corn fields, I've lived right next to the lake. Any type of area in this midwest state I've been tossed into at least once. In that way the land and culture has leeched itself into my personality- whether for better or worse. Most of these areas used to make me feel captive in my own body, surrounded by people who'd rather pray and ignore the poverty around them than try to grow out of it. I used to pass the iconic 'Hell is Real' billboard that would taunt me every break at my dad's. I could've grown to be another product churned out of the midwest system , instead I use it to often reflect on how I'll never allow myself that false comfort.

This photo series is a collection of pre-designed editorial shoots and poetic observation across different personal important sites in Ohio.
