Sexuality and gender expression is something I've questioned about myself since I gained a consciousness. I've always known I was a woman, yet I never felt right conforming to feminine roles or idealisms. I had never even questioned someone's gender when it came to the people on my tv screen I found attractive. Growing up and slowly realizing these traits in me weren't inherently viewed as 'the norm'- I questioned my own identity. It wasn't until surrounding myself with other queer people that I felt physically allowed to express myself the way I had as freely when I was five.
This photo series shows a conceptualized version of me accepting these parts of myself. A blend of masculinity and femininity. An ironic poke at what even makes us as a society determine what falls under what category.
